　　There is an impending trend that many people prefer international fast foods to domestic products nowadays. While it is assumed that this trend will give rise to repercussions for local families and society, I will disagree with this claim due to the irrelevant connections behind the claim.

　　There seems to be reasons as to why people’s preference for imported fast food begets undesirable consequences. For those who think in this way, this trend may be considered by parents as a symptom of the fading away of national identity within younger generations, given that the traditional foods of their own country are manifestation of its lifestyle, customs and tradition. Also, at the social level, indigenous products being ousted by international brands may put local food and farming industry in jeopardy: the faddism will inevitably result in the shrinkage of revenue for local business.

　　Plausible though the above misgivings seem, it is oversimplified to assume the prevalence of international brands in the local food market to be a negative tendency. Those critics are oblivious to the fact that the ramifications of any social episodes are outcomes of complex causal configurations that act conjointly – the relevance between the phenomenon and its implications are not as straightforward as they assume; based on this understanding, the discussion can then move on to questions as to which social aspects are more desirable in the local context or what the local stakeholders value more. Moving back to the cultural meaning bound up with food, youngsters’ fascination with foreign fast foods may also intrigue their interests in exotic lifestyles and cultures. One convincing example can be seen in the popularity of Mcdonald's across the globe, from which people can perceive the efficient lifestyle of America.

　　From what has been discussed above, I don’t believe it is reasonable to render people’s bias for imported fast foods negative without taking into account the contexts.
