　　In the modern era, many workers are forced to answer their work calls from home. Their mobile phones slowly occupy most of their spare time in a non-stop manner, and I tend to believe this phenomenon is largely detrimental to the productivity of the society in the long run.

　　On the positive side, mobile phones enable people to work from home, which helps them to save time from commuting. With phones, people no longer need to physically reach their office and answer their boss face to face. Also, they can get the message immediately if anything unexpected occurs, such as medical emergency of parents. With phones, people can communicate whenever and wherever they want.

　　However, it is ironic to find out that smarts phones are easy to lower people’s productivity.  Most people are susceptible to the phones’ negative influence, such as distraction. Every day, when people get up, they need to fight with the phone application designers, whose sole mission is to attract users’ attention, or their products will fail. It is widely reported that many workers cannot focus and fail multitasking, when they are working with phones. What is worse, phones direct people’s attention to where it does not matter at all. It is not strange to see many people are staring at their phones when they are gathering with their family or friends. They have to pay most of their attention to their phones, because they are used to such style of working. They spend most of the time on checking their phones unconsciously, while ignoring people who are truly around them.

　　Personally, I tend to think the problems caused by mobile phones outweigh the benefits they bring. In order for people to achieve work-life balance, I believe they need to be fully aware of their appliances' negative effects.
