　　I prefer to choose readings by myself. Firstly, students can become moreversatile by reading the books based on their unique and diverse interests. For example, students who are interested in music can pick books relevant to music theories or compositions. Therefore, beyond finishing the school curriculum which focuses mainly on academic performance, such students also develop music composition skills through reading the books they selected. Secondly, we are more motivated to finish our books if it’s chosen by ourselves. If school picks the reading lists for us, no matter how interesting the book might potentially be, the pressure from institutions may implicitly affects our motivation to read and finish the book. The readings seems more alike assignments rather than fun materials that could enrich ourselves. Hence, if we can choose our own books, we will be more willing tofinish reading them with high quality of absorption.
