These days, an ever-increasing number of freshmen choose to study in universities situated away from homes. Even though they need to overcome everyday difficulties brought about by the one-person lifestyle, I still hold the view that the upsides are too valuable to be ignored.
First and foremost, living alone undeniably enhances young adults’ ability to take care of themselves and others. Without parental aid, students have to learn to deal with a series of daily errands, which could involve doing the laundry, arranging nutritious recipes and managing their own budgets. Given the fact that no one can live under the family shelter all the time, such life mode not only benefits young people themselves, but also prepares them better for their future identities which should take on responsibilities of looking after children and old-age parents.
Moreover, young people who live on their own would become more mentally independent and self-reliant. To be more specific, people generally grow up with the inevitable influence of the original family. However, being at a critical period when most youngsters develop their views of the world, living alone contributes to the formation of values that echo their own thoughts more rather than their parents. In this way, they would become more able to make a self-determination and lead a life they would not regret.
By way of conclusion, it is more advantageous for learners to visit universities in another city instead of their hometown due to the effects on both life skills and mental development.
