People continue to commit crimes even after being punished for it. Why do you think this happens? How can crime be stopped?
There is no doubt that the instance of crime is a serious issue that plagues every society on the face of the earth. The occurrence of repeat offenders is quite high and there are reasons to explain this phenomenon as well as possible methods to resolve them.
One of the crucial causes of recidivism is discrimination towards criminals after they are released from prison. Few employers are enthusiastic about hiring felons, which leads to a vicious cycle of being unable to find a job and turning to a life of crime when no opportunities present themselves. Furthermore, it is challenging for criminals to reintegrate into society after spending lengthy periods of time in prison, not to mention a lack of aftercare services or support programs exist. Criminals may also suffer from substance abuse including a dependence on alcohol or drugs, which is difficult to overcome after gaining their freedom, leading to making poor decisions.
In terms of solving the situation, crime can be reduced in a variety of ways, of which the most vital is through education. Students in school need to learn the importance of following laws and regulations at a young age in order to ensure future compliance with laws. Moreover, criminals must show they are capable of leading a positive lifestyle before being released into society. Assigning an arbitrary number of years for criminals to spend in prison might not be efficient, rather, thorough psychological and psychiatric tests ought to be conducted to determine whether they may become repeat offenders upon entering society.
All in all, people continue to commit crimes due to prejudice towards criminals, a lack of supportive programs and suffering from unhealthy addictions. Solving these crucial issues starts with education and ensuring that criminals are ready to re-enter society. Taking these critical steps will ensure that countries can maintain a high standard of safety and security.
