  例子的错误位置

  阅读以下段落,你觉得是不是个好例子?

  范例段落:“On the other hand, I side with those who agree that second-languages should be taught as early as possible because it is easy to mould a child’s brain at a young age. This skill can be introduced in a fun learning and interactive way in class. For example, it is scientifically proven that children from the age of 3 to 10 have the capacity to learn more than one language at a time naturally without explicit instruction.”

  译文:另一方面,我支持那些同意应尽早学第二语言的人,因为小时候孩子的大脑很容易塑造。例如,科学证明,3到10岁的儿童无需显性的指导就可以自然地同时学会一种以上的语言。

  从给出信息的角度看,上述例子是好的,有充分的细节。问题是它的位置是否恰当。例子应紧跟着它所说明/支持的观点,例子的内容,对应的要是其前一句已给出的信息。上述段落里,例子的前一句是“This skill can be introduced in a fun learning and interactive way in class”,这句话和“孩子学语言的年龄”有关系吗?例子中的“孩子在3-10岁学语言”与上一句的“fun and interactive"有关系吗?

  都没有,所以这不是个好例子。尽管例子内容扣住了题目,但它与前一句没有关系。

  例子的正确位置

  调整一下例子的位置即可。

  修改段落:“On the other hand, I side with those who agree that second-languages should be taught as early as possible because it is easy to mould a child’s brain at a young age. Bilingual children are the best illustration of this, as they are able to learn two languages simply by hearing them in their home environment.   这样一来整个段落读起来更流畅。同时,在例子后面加了一句话来进一步支持论点。

  每个观点都要充分拓展

  但是这个段落仍然存在问题:最后一句缺乏解释和拓展。要想TR得7分,考官需要看到每个观点都得到充分的解释和支撑,他们不喜欢只用一句话陈述论点。所以我们可以增加一些关于“如果教师不那么关注外显学习,课堂能不能更活跃和有趣”的内容。

In fact, schools can use a similar technique, introducing children to the new language using fun, interactive activities rather than structured grammar classes. Games and songs in the target language can be used in class, which will encourage the children to participate more and be more effective than learning in a traditional class later in their school-career.
