参考范文:
In this era, advertising is prevalent and pervasive from outdoor billboards to store-front windows and even on products themselves at home, schools and workplaces. Nevertheless, the necessity of advertised products and services is questionable, which will be further considered.
Advertising in this day and age is highly developed and aims to appeal to people’s tastes while simultaneously attempting to maximise corporate profits. Advertising agencies play on the
wants and desires of viewers by depicting tasty food, good-looking models and high-end products. Moreover, when it comes to consumers, every individual customer has different needs that vary based on age, gender, ethnicity and even preferences. As a result, certain products might appeal to a select group while it may not be attractive to another group.
There is a phenomenon called buyer’s remorse, which occurs when an individual purchases an item they later deem was a waste of money. It is accurate to state that most people do not actually need the vast majority of products they purchase. Nonetheless, in today’s consumerist society, shoppers are entangled with the option to conveniently purchase millions of products. As a result, advertising creates a materialistic society whereby acquiring a greater number of goods is equated with success or wealth.
All in all, people’s basic needs can be satisfied with a small number of products that do not necessarily require massive advertising campaigns. Therefore, it is precise to state that advertising’s main objective is to drive sales of products and services that individuals do not actually need.
