  独立写作

  话题分类教育类话题   2017.7.15旧题

考题回忆Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

Younger children (aged less than 12 years) would get benefits if they are also taught different subjects by different teachers every day.

The controversy over children’s schooling arrangement reminds me of the famous scientist Edison’s story that he was expelled from school for his too much curiosity by the only teacher of his class. To my mind, it is very risky to employ only one teacher for a class, and different subjects should be taught by different teachers.

Firstly, distributing teaching tasks to different teachers promotes teaching quality. The view point that teaching children a certain subject does not need professionalism seems irrational as much importance is attached to this fundamental education. Most people are specialized in one or two fields. They cannot teach well when they are not familiar with the subjects. Moreover, since children learn more effectively by doing activities, teaching them would be energy consuming. If a teacher teaches children all day and every day, he or she would find it difficult to keep the quality. Therefore, it is an irresponsible practice to ask only one teacher to be in charge of all things.

Secondly, seeing different teachers is a shot in the arm for a whole day’s study. Isn’t it terrible if children spend all the school hours listening to the same teacher’s incessant speaking, especially in the case that this teacher is not very popular? Teachers have their unique personalities or teaching styles, so the experiences of taking classes taught by different teachers vary. For instance, the children may learn from a humorous history teacher before attending a math class full of wisdom. Even the history teacher could make them laugh, it is still tiring if they keep laughing all day. Thus, the math class would be a refreshment to them who would find it easier to concentrate again.

Finally, there is no reason to distinguish young children’s education from high schooling by the number of teachers. The primary schools are supposed to prepare children for their further study in high schools. Since subjects are taught by different teachers in high schools, children need to adapt to such schooling mode when they leave primary school. To make it easier, the school systems should be uniformed, and there should be different teachers teaching different subjects.

To sum up, the education for children under 12 years old should be undertaken by multiple teachers in order to ensure the quality and effectiveness.
