　　Owing to the news reports on a daily basis, the seriousness of the environmental problems has long been appreciated by the public. In order to solve these setbacks once for all, some people suggest to raise the oil tax, yet some others believe the drawbacks of this action might also be tremendous. By comparing, I personally believe that the demerit could take the bigger part.

　　As a predictable advantage brought by this action, there must be fewer cars on the road with a higher oil price. As common knowledge, it is not likely for people to purchase something beyond their affordability so that driving will become too money-consuming when the oil price reaches a certain level. Meanwhile, this situation will naturally bring smaller numbers of motor vehicles and related waste-gas emission and the air quality will be largely improved in urban regions.

　　On the other hand, the problem triggered by extra petrol tax could be severe. Firstly, discouraging car transportation basically equals to demoting the traffic efficiency and all the related business will definitely suffer from a huge retrogression. What’s even worse is that this tax-raising still cannot solve the environment problems radically. We all can admit that the environmental problem is a complicated issue caused by multiple factors, including water pollution, bio-chemical waste, deforestation etc. Therefore, if we only take waste gas under control, there are still many other pollution resources and those other pollutions will keep ruining our nature.

　　By analyzing both sides, we can easily see that our nature still cannot be saved effectively by simply raising the tax payment. On the other hand, life efficiency will even be more impaired.
