  01-11双边类 – 环境话题

  Some people think climate change has a negative impact on business, while others think that it provides more business opportunities. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

  题目大意:

  有人认为气候变化对商业有负面影响,其他人认为环境变化带来商机。讨论双方观点并给出你的观点。

  思路:

  双边讨论类的题目,可以自由讨论双方各自的利弊。这两个观点,都有一定合理性,但其合理性需要满足特定的条件下才能成立;

  我的观点就是双方都有道理:针对不同的前提(如不同行业)有两种结果;或是针对同一行业,应该综合考虑气候的影响,可以是机会和危机并存;

  两个主体段分别讨论双方的合理性,并给出限定条件和导致这种观点产生的前提;

  关键词:

  climate change,business,negative impact,more business opportunities 文章需要针对这几个词展开

  范文:

  While climate change has long been considered as a detriment to the business world, some people claim that such a problem can create new opportunities for some sectors. To me, I would say neither view is comprehensive enough to illustrate the entire picture: each opinion deserves its justification under certain circumstances.

  It makes sense why some people take it for granted that global warming is the culprit of the underdevelopment of many industries. From the perspective of the protagonists of this assertion, many frequently encountered problems are inextricably bound up with unpredictable weather; for example, the disorder of airlines due to storms and the ensuing delay for those travelers who might miss out on an important meeting, or the damage caused by hails to vehicle dealers, whose cars are usually parked outdoor. Even the government policy in tackling greenhouse effect might backfire at the energy sectors by curtailing the subsidy to fire powerplants, which not only reduces the sales of coal, but also undermine the manufacture powered by traditional fossil fuels.

  Despite these facts mentioned above, at the other end of the scale stand some optimists of the global warming, who see the trend as a new engine to propel the progress of industries. In their eyes, those who holding a pessimistic view towards climate change are oblivious to the principle of business revolution: chances always hide behind problems. Back to the example of hail, instead of mourning the minor damage to vehicles, some dealers also take advantage of the incident as a new wave of discount to clear up their old stock. Also, the administrative policy against greenhouse gas can be considered from a positive angle: despite the demise of traditional powerplants and coal mining industry, many entrepreneurs are beginning to see the light on the emerging greener energy industry, such as solar and wind power.

  In conclusion, it looks to me that it would be simple-minded to venerate either opinion over the other if we do not take comprehensive consideration of all possible effects of discrete climate problem.
