　　第一.自给自足对于很多国家无法完成。很多国家的自然条件本身就不允许食物的自我供应：世界上许多国家的自然条件对于种植充分食粮保证全民供应比较严苛，诸如不存在富庶的土地，生态或气候条件极端，这种情况下完成食物的自我供应本身是不可能的。

　　第二.对于世界粮食贸易体系来说，这种想法也是不负责任的：有很多国家的主要经济支柱就是食物出口，如果一旦这种贸易模式被阻隔，则会让这些国家的经济也进入寒冬，这也会带来整个世界经济体系的崩溃。

　　I would argue in this essay how irresponsible and irrational for countries to guarantee food supply by only their countries’ own production and barely depending on importation.

　　Before scrutinizing whether a country should produce food for all the population on its own barely without the foreign supplies, I would first say that it is totally not doable for some of them to do this. The word “should” is persuasive only if those nations have the capabilities to fulfill their people’s intake needs, but this is far away from the grain yield of many countries: their lands are not that fertilized to grow abundant crops; their climate is too extreme to ensure the harvest of most vegetables or other farming produce. One would only see the dark scenarios once their importations are cut down, and once their population are only distributed with their local daily consumptions, because most people would only suffer from famine and pay a lot in their food consumption; the hideously high Engel’s coefficient tells only how harsh a life citizens are living by kneeling and praying for a bumper harvest year. Ultimately, it is the lack of ability for them to pledge the provision that makes the claim collapse.

　　The thinking elicited from the topic is also myopic; they certainly overlook the problem and make the irresponsible proposal without considering what if the world economy depresses when limiting this kind of circulation. The impediment of the worldwide food trading provokes far more than just the high prices and food shortages in some countries; this means a global depression in the primary industry. Apart from the self-reliance, food industry in many fertile locations is also one of the economic pillars; they depend their welfare and prosperity largely on the huge international earnings from their high-quality produce. Those various, exotic flavors benefit not only nations that are prosperous enough to consider this as an enjoyment, but also those barrens where the transport of food is the only way to feed their dwellers. This type of exchanges accounts for a large portion of an economy, or sometimes becomes the only way in sustaining some countries that are less developed in secondary and tertiary industries. They would witness huge calamities in terms of their financial chains, and be even likely to call for foreign aids—international debits or SDR, etc.—when their original food exports are barriered.

　　In conclusion, the reckless proposal made by the topic compels me to question its reasonableness; one must see past the truth behind every fact and rationally make policies that won’t bring national catastrophes by the problems in food and economy.
