　　阅读中的语境分析

　　One night, a French stays at an American hotel and he sees a mouse in his room. But he didn’t know how to say mouse in English, so he asked the waiter ’Do you know Tom and Jerry?’The waiter said yes. ‘Jerry is here.’said the French.

　　你在读雅思阅读过程中应该也遇到过不认识的词，从而影响你找出答案。这种情况下我们可以上述故事里的法国人一样，可以通过别的线索获取或者表达我们的意思。这种方法叫语境分析(context clues)。这个方法不仅是雅思阅读， 你出国以后各科学习中，生活中都能用到。语境分析可以通过下列方式：

　　1. 反义词分析

　　He looks quite astute isn’t he? But in fact he is as dumb as a rock.

　　这句话前半部分有个咱们不是很熟悉，不过后半句咱们是可以看懂的。后半句描述主人公非常笨。既然两句话是转折的关系，所以我们可以得出主人公看起来是非常聪明的，从而得出astute差不多是聪明的意思。

　　2. 答案分析

　　-How they do? _I am good my man， how about you?

　　这句话是经典美剧‘火线‘里常见的街头用语。答案说的是我很好你呢?所以我们能退出来第一个人说的你最近怎么样的意思。这种句子的分析标题配对中可以用到的情况比较多。

　　3. 举例分析

　　Human body needs all kinds of elements, such as iron, calcium, hydrogen, sulphur and so on, to function normally.

　　这句话里的举例内容有我们比较熟悉的铁，钙，氢等元素，所以比较容易猜出来element是元素的意思，因为举例中有hydrogen (氢)，所以不会把element猜成金属，当然这里需要一定的化学基础。

　　利用刚才的思路猜猜看下列句子中的下划线的单词。

　　2. -Are you starving at the moment? _No, I just had lunch, I am full.
