  参考范文:

People have different views about the economic growth. While some people argue that the economic development should be ceased since it triggers the environment damage, I believe that the poverty and hunger in the world could only be stopped by it.

On the one hand, there are several reasons why some against economic growth, it is undeniable that a great deal of natural resources need to be used to develop economy, which has led to a series of ecosystem environment problems. For example, to have a rapid growth of GDP, some developing countries keep expanding their manufacturing industry, from socks to cars, during this procedure, an excessive number of smog, chemical waste and toxic heavy metals are discharged into air, water and soil, thus contaminating the environment to a great extent. Secondly, the increase of personal wealth brings high consumption levels, such as private cars and home appliances, which may give rise to waste and global warming.

On the other hand, why others claim economic growth is the sole way to help poor people is owing to the following fact. The most significant reason is that the economic growth provides more job opportunities, which means more people could be employed to support their families. Furthermore, with the profit of economic development, governments can invest more money in their education and public welfare, thus enhancing the lives of their citizens. For instance, backed by its strong economic strength, China has lifted millions of its citizens out of poverty and hunger, and even offers financial aids to some developing and underdeveloped countries like Vietnam and Algeria.

In conclusion, I think that although economic development affects environment negatively in some aspects, it do improve the wellbeing of human beings, and many countries have already adopted cleaner production for sustainable development, which means the economic development and environmental protection can work together.
