　　More and more people no longer read newspaper or watch TV programs to get news. They get news about the world through the internet. Is this a positive or negative development.

　　Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

　　Recent years have brought a revolution in information technology, affecting the way we live in many ways, including accessing news. There has been a significant rise in digital forms of news and I believe that electronic media will eventually displace physical newspapers as people's preferred source of news.

　　For many people, having a physical newspaper to read is an ingrained habit that is difficult to break. The layout is reassuringly familiar and it is easy to navigate. In addition, not everyone has access to digital news, particularly some older people. That said, traditions, however entrenched, can disappear. As new generations come in, they bring in new ways of doing things and, although print news stll remains popular, 1 believe it is only a matter of time before electronic forms of news will replace it.

　　There are several key reasons why I think digital news is more effective than physical newspapers. Firstly, access to news websites is either very cheap, or most often, free. This means that one can conveniently look at more than one source of news, rather than rely on just one newspaper. One can get more news. In addition, one can get a more rounded view of a story by doing this, whereas one's newspaper of choice may have a certain bias.

　　Furthermore, social media is a major source of news sharing meaning that friends can recommend news stories that may have otherwise been missed. This is not as conveniently done with traditional print media.

　　In short, I think the advantages of using digital media as a source of news are clear.

　　Therefore, in time, I believe these sources will replace the traditional newspaper and its limitations.
