　　According to the passage, pikas will have the danger of becoming extinct due to global warming. In light of the lecture, however, global warming will not threaten the population of the

　　animal.

　　To begin with, the author mentions that global warming causes the rise of temperature, and overheating will lead to the death of pikas. On the contrary, to quote the lecture, the temperature varies when it comes to their habitats. Pikas will find some sheltered places which are much cooler. Therefore, the population of pikas will remain stable.

　　In addition, according to the passage, pikas will fail to collect and store enough food in the summer as a result of the high temperature. The lecturer opposes this statement by claiming that the high temperature in the summer would make pikas eat and consume less food, which would allow pikas to store more food for later use.

　　Finally, the passage indicates that snow is melting at a faster rate because of global warming, so thick layer of snow, which pikas use to protect themselves, is now disappearing. Quite the contrary, in light of the lecture, snow melting means the winter will end soon, and pikas will have more opportunities to reproduce, which will make the population of pikas recover.
