参考范文: An increasing number of people are choosing to do cosmetic surgery. Why do people have operations to change the way they look? Do you think this is a positive or negative development?
Human beings have always been obsessed with beauty and attractiveness since the dawn of time and this fascination has led them to tinker with their appearances, most recently through plastic surgery. The reasons why individuals choose to alter their appearance by means of surgery will be further discussed.
In this day and age, physical attractiveness is seen as a form of strength and power, leading Three individuals to exert influence over others. It can be argued that good-looking people are more successful in their academic and professional lives and sought-after than their peers. Moreover, being physically attractive is appealing to make more friends and even attract members of the opposite gender, which may even lead to better overall treatment by others. Considering these factors, individuals decide to change their physical appearance through cosmetic surgery in order to reap the benefits in their lives.
From my perspective, resorting to plastic surgery to make cosmetic changes are unnecessary as individuals ought to embrace their natural appearances. Furthermore, numerous dangers are present during the process of undergoing an operation and there have been documented cases where people have been injured or even lost their lives. To add to that, expectations that people hold of how they appear after plastic surgery are almost never met, which leads to massive disappointment, not to mention a waste of thousands of dollars.
To sum up, numerous people decide to do plastic surgery for the perceived societal, interpersonal and financial benefits. Nevertheless, dangers exist in the form of being hurt and disappointed with the outcome of their surgery as well as having lighter pockets after going under the knife.
