　　Films and computer games containing violence are popular. Some people say they have a negative effect on society and should be banned. Others say they are just harmless relaxation. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

　　The controversial issue of the effects of movies and video games containing violence on society have been debated for decades. There are obvious pros and cons to these arguments, which will be explored further.

　　On the one hand, entertainment containing violent content has a harmful effect on children as they are unable to distinguish between reality and the virtual world. Youngsters are impressionable and by observing detrimental behaviour in films and games, they may attempt to imitate these actions,leading to terrible results. Moreover, these young people may be psychologically scarred by being exposed to violent scenes, which would certainly affect their mental development as well as their ability to get along with others.

　　On the other hand, targeted at the correct, age-appropriate audience, movies and games containing violent images may be beneficial for teenagers and adults to release stress, particularly in today’s fast-paced society. Seeing explosions, frenetic car chases or shootouts between rival armies has a sense of excitement and exhilaration associated with it. These experiences enable viewers to temporarily let go of the troubles they face in their lives and immerse themselves into a world where their fantasies and wildest dreams can be experienced.

　　From my point of view, film and game ratings are a necessity as children ought to be protected from viewing violent materials at an early age. Along the same lines, teenagers and adults have the right to see these types of motion pictures or immerse themselves in these genres of games as a method of relieving their daily pressure.
